Allianz senior executive Rainer Karcher will share with us the initiatives he is driving. Rainer is Global Head of Sustainability at Allianz Technology in Munich. He ensures that sustainability is embedded in all company IT services and products, supporting Allianz Technology in achieving its ambitious targets towards a sustainable future. Rainer will also provide insights on his work as a sustainability leader and Board Member of SustainableIT.org (https://www.sustainableit.org/). As a nonprofit organization, SustainableIT.org is led by senior technology executives who advance sustainability around the world through technical leadership.
He has more than 25 years of experience in IT at various companies, including IBM, TeleCash/ FirstData and Arvato Systems, gaining expertise in various areas such as support, infrastructure, data centers and service operations. Before joining Allianz Technology, Rainer was Global Director IT Sustainability at Siemens, initiating and implementing the first company-wide IT Sustainability strategy and leading a team of dedicated IT Sustainability professionals.
A climate activist at heart, Rainer calls himself a climate activist in a suit, and the name says it all!
This meeting will be a great opportunity for AGBC Munich and IB|CM attendees to learn much more about the evolving advances on sustainability in many areas of IT. In addition, we will meet and explore ideas and opportunities with members of a number of the other Munich-area international business clubs.
