Prior to the 2024 elections AGBC hosted a pre-election event with experts from the financial industry (Previous event can be viewed here). Our September 17, 2025 event will be a follow-up on the impact of Trump policies and the impact on the financial markets. How has the banking industry reacted? How have tariff policies impacted both domestic and international markets? How has global financial balance reacted and or adjusted?

Panelist: Joannis Karathanasis
Joannis Karathanasis is Managing Director of Metzler/Payden in Frankfurt and holds overall responsibility for the joint venture’s strategic development, client relationships, and operational management.
Metzler/Payden is a 50/50 joint venture between Metzler Bank, Germany’s oldest private bank, and Los Angeles-based investment manager Payden & Rygel. Prior to joining Metzler/Payden, Joannis spent nearly 6 years with Metzler Asset Management, overseeing institutional client relationships. Before that, he held roles in client relationship management at J.P. Morgan Asset Management for 5 years and Merrill Lynch Investment Management, Germany, for 3 years. Joannis earned a degree in finance from Bankakademie in Frankfurt, Germany.
Panelist: Dr. Marc Feiler
Dr Marc Feiler is a Member of the Management Board and General Counsel of Bayerische Börse AG and the Munich Stock Exchange (MSE)
After studying law at the LMU Munich and passing his second state examination, Marc worked for over four years in an international law firm in Munich. In 2004, he joined Bayerische Börse AG and the Munich Stock Exchange (MSE) as General Counsel and has been a member of the management board of the MSE and the trading venue “gettex” since 2018. More than 700,000 securities are currently traded on the MSE and gettex, including more than 8,000 equities and bonds from US issuers.”
Panelist: Frank Pöpplow
Frank joined Federated Hermes in January 2020, having been a managing director for the European entity of Federated Asset Manangement GmbH since 2006.
Prior to this, he was a general manager at attrax S.A in Luxemburg. He spent 14 years at DZ Bank in several roles, most recently as Head of Business Development for retail investment products for the German union banking sector (Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken). Frank has a degree in Economics from the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn.
