The Grapeful Vinothek at the Munich Marriott

The Grapeful Vinothek at the Munich Marriott, the AGBC’s home hotel in Munich since 30 years, focusses on regional wine and food experiences. With Munich itself not being rather a beer location in terms of production, The Grapeful sources all its “regional” wines from within a radius of 500km around our beautiful city. A carefully curated selection focusses on affordable wines from mostly smaller winemakers and is designed to encourage guests to try out new styles and varietals, which they may not yet be familiar with. Alexander will explain this approach using the example of a few wines from Bavaria, Austria and Italy, hopefully offering some interesting insights and – most importantly – some memorable tastes.

Alexander Bieber is the General Manager of the Munich Marriott Hotel since 2017. Before this assignment, he was traveling the world and worked in or lead hotels in 8 countries on 4 continents. His professional background, before becoming a General Manager, was in restaurants and bars. Having been involved in professionally procuring wines and curating wine lists (some of them award winning) for countless restaurants during the past 30 years does not make him a Sommelier – but it did develop a solid understanding of quality, uniqueness, taste and value of wines. And over the years wine became a big passion point in Alexander’s life.
