Back in March 2014, Sebastian Welter, IBM Client Technical Architect for the Watson team in DACH, provided AGBC Munich an informative overview of IBM’s Watson initiative. In the meantime, IBM has opened its global Watson IoT Center here in Munich. The center is located just across the Mittlerer Ring from the Marriott, in the Watson IoT Tower.

For our October monthly meeting, Gaya Magie, Technical Leader for IBM’s Watson IoT Center, will provide us an update as the initiative’s advances with an emphasis on IoT (internet of Things). She will help us gain an improved understanding on what the Internet of Things is, why it is relevant to us, how it impacts us, and how we are surrounded by the Internet of Things. She will then outline IBM’s IoT strategy, including how Watson, IBM’s Artificial Intelligence technology, plays a critical role in IoT. We will understand IoT better through some examples of real life use-cases and learn about IoT’s trends and futures.

Gaya Magie is responsible for all technical assets and projects at the Watson IoT (WIoT) Center. In this role, she leads the technical client interactions and further develops the technical and data innovations in the Center. The technical environment includes, architecting, designing, developing, maintaining and extending a full array of WIoT, research and other supporting technology based assets, and joint solution co-creation with the Center’s many co-located partners.

Gaya has been with IBMUS since 2001 and has over 20 years of Information Technology experience, working on various aspects of the business, including development, support, project management, product management, and sales. Prior to joining IBM, Gaya started her industry experience in 1998 at Informix Software Corporation as a software engineer and a developer.
