4 Questions  to McElory Hoffmann

McElory joined AGBC Munich in 2024.

Q1: Since when do you live in/around Munich? What brought you here and what is your business?

My background is in computer engineering and applied mathematics  (machine learning/artificial intelligence). While I am not a permanent resident of München, I typically spend about three to four months there annually, often during the summer. The rest of the year I am based in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

My initial visits to München were driven by an appreciation for the German culture and the city itself. Now, my frequent trips are primarily due to our company having a branch in München. For the past 13 years, we have specialized in assisting small-to-medium enterprises (SMMEs) with implementing AI solutions, managing the process from initial concept through to a fully operational system.

Q2: How did you learn about AGBC, what was your reason to become a member and why would you recommend to join?

Larry Schulz was introduced to me through a mutual contact. I became a member because it connected me with new people and valuable business contacts. By joining as an official member, I’m also able to help ensure the AGBC can continue for the long term, which is why I recommend the AGBC to others.

Q3: If you could choose one of the next AGBC event topics, what would it be?

The topic I’d select, if limited to one, is AI. Although we covered this subject a few years back, the global landscape has dramatically shifted since then.

Q4: What is your favorite spot/activity in Munich (or surroundings) and why?

I love travelling to Füssen. My favourite thing is to walk the mountain route from Füssen to Hohenschwangau. It’s also always a special experience to be in the English Garden, especially when you can relax by the water with a good German beer.

Thank you, McElory!
