 ce to hear from and meet the new US Consul General for Munich\, Meghan Gre
 gonis\, who will join us for our June monthly meeting.  Meghan will addre
 ss current and evolving US economic and diplomatic situations. She will sh
 are the government views on the transatlantic trade and investment relatio
 nship and explain the Ambassador's top priorities - among others defense s
 pending and investment\, re-balancing trade\, and energy security. Further
 more\, she will present her vision on how to continuously expand and impro
 ve the Bavarian-American relations during her assignment and reflect the i
 mpressions from her first year in Bavaria.\n\nMeghan Gregonis is the Unite
 d States Consul General in Munich since July 2018. Before her assignment t
 o Germany\, she was Deputy Director for Public Diplomacy in the State Depa
 rtment’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs where she oversaw and b
 roadened Public Diplomacy engagement in Western Europe. In this capacity\,
  she also coordinated U.S. efforts to counter disinformation.\n\nPrior Was
 hington assignments include the National Security Council at the White Hou
 se where she directed the U.S. government’s engagement on Turkish affair
 s from 2012-2013. Meghan led the State Department’s team of officers adv
 ancing relations with Turkey as the Senior Turkey Desk Officer (2010-2012)
  and worked on Jordanian relations as the Jordan Desk Officer (2008-2010).
 \n\nHer overseas assignments include Islamabad\, where she directed the St
 ate Department’s largest overseas media office and served as Embassy Spo
 kesperson from 2013-2014. She also served as Embassy Spokesperson and Pres
 s Unit Chief in Riyadh from 2007-2008. Earlier assignments include Special
  Assistant to the Ambassador in Rome from 2004-2007\; Press officer in Bag
 hdad in 2003\; and Cultural Attaché in Jerusalem from 2002-2004.\n\nMegha
 n is a distinguished graduate of the National War College and is a graduat
 e of New York University. She completed graduate business studies at Templ
 e University before joining the State Department in 2001. Meghan is also a
 n alumna of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Seminar XXI prog
 ram\, a professional program for current and future leaders in the U.S. mi
 litary\, foreign policy\, and national security fields.\n\nPrior to joinin
 g the Foreign Service\, Meghan developed businesses at a venture capital c
 ompany in her hometown of Philadelphia. She speaks German\, Italian\, Fren
 ch\, and Arabic. Meghan and her husband\, Dr. Alessio Volante\, are avid c
 yclists.
